These courses are improving my career, life, and personal recovery. This is the missing link to my personal recovery.

Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA)
Certification Training

Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) Certification Training is more than just memorizing route answers and stock procedures. CRPAs leverage their personal experiences with substance use to offer support and guidance to patients' treatment and recovery plans. They draw from their own past to uplift and empower others towards their own recovery. CRPAs strive to create a safe and supportive environment for individuals navigating the complexities of substance use disorder. Recovery Coach University provides a rigorous and comprehensive CRPA certification training program designed to equip individuals with the professional knowledge and skills necessary to become effective CRPAs. The curriculum covers various aspects of recovery support, including peer coaching and counseling techniques, advocacy, resource navigation, and empowering individuals to actively engage in their own recovery plans. By obtaining CRPA certification training from Recovery Coach University, you will join thousands of alumni who now demonstrate their commitment to advancing the field of recovery support, and their ability to positively impact the lives of those seeking recovery from substance use disorder.

The trainers were absolutely amazing. They are both obviously born to do their job. Seeing them in action coaching our real peers in real life situations gave me a lot of insight. I learned an incredible amount in this training and enjoyed every part

50 Hours Foundational Training (Required):

*Note: All certification-related training must be approved by NYCB and must be delivered by a NYCB approved Trainer. All of RCU classes and trainers comply with these requirements as noted by the badge on each of your certificates of completion (see sample badges below the green training squares).

Additionally, many of RCU classes are approved by OASAS for CASAC, CPP, CPS Renewal CE’s; and ASAP NYS for Social Work CE’s.

If you live outside of NYS, click here to check your state’s certification requirements; RCU Training is accepted in most states.

I believe this is a training the world needs to take. Especially in these times of chaos and the unknown, I think really learning to listen, be empathetic and just acknowledge that others are human, is so needed.
Lori and Keith were two genuine people who couldn’t have done a better job delivering this training.

About CRPA Employment:
Individuals seeking CRPA Certification are interested in Peer employment opportunities in NYS Treatment Centers including Outpatient and Inpatient Clinics, Stabilization, Residential and Sober Living Facilities and Recovery Centers. These addiction treatment and recovery centers require the CRPA Credential so that they may bill Medicaid for their Peer Support Services. Many CRPA’s are adding the CARC credential to their toolboxes for added credibility and career advancement. They do this by applying the same ‘foundational’ 50 hours and supplementing them with 10 additional ‘CARC Elective’ credit hours to meet the 60 Hr. Requirement.

About CRPA Certification:
The ‘Initial’ 50 Hr. Training Requirement for CRPA Certification can be obtained by attending the three courses above and then fulfilling the CRPA application requirements including acquiring 500 hours in a peer role apprenticeship or supervised employment, presenting proof of a high school degree, and successful completion of the IC&RC Peer Recovery Exam. For details, applications and requirements always check with the NYS Certification Board (NYCB) as they are the experts and authorities on all NYS Peer/ Recovery Coach Certifications!

CRPA Renewal: every three years
See CRPA and CARC Renewals Page for ALL Recovery Coach University NYCB - approved Training for CRPA and CARC Renewal!
Don’t wait till the third year to begin taking the required training!

I am both inspired and grateful for the coaches we had and this experience. It was life changing for me. I thought I wanted to be a recovery coach before I took this course. And now I know I NEED to be.
